Band/artist history
Leptotrichia arose somewhere at the end of 2000 after the split up of melodical deathmetal band Mental Death. While founding member Youri (drums) was being bored of playing melodical metal, he tried to brutalize the sound by attracting a new guitarplayer... . Young Zitter came along and after a couple of weeks rehearsing as a two-piece they invited Muncky (vocals) to sing with them. The three felt they had something going and immediately asked Jona (bass) to join them. With this line-up a first demo: Perverted proud was recorded. Of course it suffered from severe quality damage as none of them were ready to record....but nevertheless it gave them a real boost to take this band to a further level.
Straight after these recordings (and their first gig) Leptotrichia was in search of a new guitarplayer to spice up their sound.. Lander was proven worthy for this job and more gigs were being played as they were trying to spread their name throughout the Belgian underground. Unfortunately just before the recordings of the Enjoy the slaughtermini-CD, Jona wanted to quit. Therefore they recorded this one as a four piece (as a new bassplayer was already found in Accoute). From here on everything went really fast for the band.
The band had the opportunity to sign to Dead Again Records (now IBD Records) who wanted to release the Enjoy the slaughter mini-CD as a split together with UK grinders Amputated. Also Deadpawn-productions wanted to re-release the mini-CD and use some songs for their compilation-CD. Their deal with IBD even got them airplay and soon reactions from all over the world followed. After all this great news the band had a verry difficult time due to some equipment problems, personal problems, demotivation etc. It wasnt until their gig at the Deathmetal.be festival that they were back on track.
In the mean time IBD has also let the band know that they are ready to release their first full album and even organise a little trip to England. Negotiations are still running as we speak but in the mean time you can witness their latest effort: Spit and swallowon the deathmetal.be-sampler VOL.2.
