Job

Piscean sisters, Charis and Maaike, weave intense vocal harmonics over chunky acoustic rhythm guitar and smoothed out basslines. The sisters write all their own

Job is comprised of Piscean sisters, Charis and Maaike. Charis has been playing drums for the past 12 years and has taken up rhythm guitar with brilliant results. Her imaginative and frequent variations provide the foundation for the stunning hamonies of the sisters tightly woven vocals. Basslines occasionally provided by friends of the band add funky movement and counterpoint to guitar.
Band/artist history
Job (pronounced like the biblical parable's subject) is comprised of piscean sisters, Charis and Maaike as well as the occasional bass player and sessions with Marc Quinones' little bro, Camillo, on congas and other percussion. While this album could effectively be called folk, plans are in the works to record a more fully instrumented album which will be more progressive rock in tone. We have been playing music together in various configurations since ages 8 and 12 respectively. Charis' first instrument is drum kit which she has been playing since age 10. This makes for incredibly interesting and intense rhythm guitar ideas. Coupled with the fact that she has been playing (guitar) non-stop for the past 3 years, this makes for a pretty bad-ass musical foundation. Guitar being the foundation, complex harmonic vocals build most of the songs' structures with occasional unison which most often sounds like strange chorus effect due to our voices' genetic similarities. People have been known to look around for the processor as it is a bit eerie. We have both been singing for as long as we can remember. Our lyrics deal with fairly heavy topics and are drawn from our life experiences which brings us to our name - Job. This is in no way a christian music thing but we were able to relate to this guy.. he went through alot of shit and well, so do we all. Also, both of our parents were ordained ministers until we were 13 and 17 respectively. Thank GOD that's over. Now then, some of you may be here in response to our recent flyering mania and in that case you are wondering, "one of what?" Basically, we are committed not only to creating good music, but also to living outside of the norm. It is bullshit to spend all of your time at some job that you can bearly stand or which is in fact completely torturous just to make some money to buy some crap that everyone else thinks you should have to be cool, hip, fresh, tight, slick or insert operative good-conotation of neatness here. We have both left perfectly "good" jobs making perfectly "good" money to pursue this idea that there is, "More to life than this..." Bjork. We will be posting new music here as well as playing all over the US and wherever else we can bribe our ways into. If you are down to support this, come to the shows, email us interesting thoughts or argue with us about our decided lack of American Spirit. As long as you are thinking and not living in some crappy plastic television, we won't mind. At any rate, check out the tunes. Please bear in mind that all of this and more was recorded and mixed in one day so it is a bit rough. (This means don't believe that we don't know it sucks some and sound MUCH better live.) Have you performed in front of an audience?
We can ususally be seen live in Albuquerque or Manhattan although we are branching out and playing at colleges all over. We've been performing since we were really young and it is always a good time. Every performance provides a platform for connectivity among the band and that is always special.
