Band/artist history
Ponder (the UK band), was in existence since the fall of 1996 when singer, guitarist and songwriter George Allan, drummer Daniel Evans and bassist Rob Dooley played their first gig at the Forum, Tunbridge Wells. At the time their sound was raw, and somewhat more undeveloped than it has grown to be. 1997 saw the leaving of Rob Dooley from the band which temporarily split with George moving into a more alternative style of music forming, The Hairy Goats Belly, with school friend Steve Martin. Utilising school eq like keyboards through distorted amplifiers they achieved some strange sounds, broken guitar strings/amps/drum skins/ear drums and some new channels of thought were opened. On holiday in the Phillipines in late '97 Kingpin was written which became the basis of many more funky elements. Ponder saw the arrival of Tim Cullen to take the role of bassist and vocalist in '98 during the back transfusion from the 'goats belly to Ponder. Drummer Steve Martin left the band and saw the return of Dan Evans. Over the summer of '99 the band played venues such as the Bull and Gate in Kentish Town, The Hope and Anchor in Islington and reached the Semi-Final of the Monday Night showcase at the Forum, Tunbridge Wells which took place on the 6th December 1999. During Jan 2001, continuing solo work George entered Tunbridge Wells S16 studios, to record 'Lanterns of the Emotional Galaxy' and 'To Never Know' which marked a new style of acoustic work. Both songs got on to the top 10 on the Alternative Charts at Soundclick.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
A few times, Camden Town, Covent Gardens, Tunbridge Wells.
Your musical influences
acoustic guitar. I love slurring, down beat guitar work like some of Beck, Dandy Warhols, Pavement, the Eels.
What equipment do you use?
A 4 mike, my guitar and my poor vocal chords. For electric guitar work a cry-baby wah-wah peddle.

(About the song, "To Never Know"
-this song is a diamond in the rough... albeit extremely rough. I listened to it once, and I didn't think much of it, but for some reason, I wanted to listen to it again. Now I like it. It will definitely be stuck in my head for a while. I would love to hear a more polished version of this song, although part of it's charm IS it's "roughness". I gave it a 5.
