Hara Kiri are a metal/hardcore band based in Preston, UK.
Band/artist history
The band was formed in early 2004 by its founding members, Chris Gough and James Leckey and the song writing process began from day one in the search of creating their own unique and brutal style. The evolution of the sound then took a more focussed direction with the addition of Ste Hogan on vocals. With the vocals adding another dimension of pure aggression, self produced and mixed demos were recorded in James garage with nothing more than a 4 track and determination to progress and improve the bands collective musicianship. Despite the limited confines of 4 track recording, everyone who listened to the early demos could hear the potential. Even with growing interest in the band, the positions of rhythm guitarist and bassist were yet to be filled. The solution to this problem, due to Chris, James and Stes eagerness to begin gigging was to bring in temporary session musicians to play a stint of 4 gigs; this would help the core members gain live experience for when a permanent line-up was established. It was not long after the first gig that interest in the band grew further, and by the end of the 4 gig stint interest in the yet to be filled positions of rhythm and bass guitarists grew to the extent that tryouts had to be held. After a month of auditioning various prospective members, two were agreed to be far and away the best suited and most talented of all applicants. Guitarist Spike (ex Kraul guitarist) and Fisher (former bass player for Drop in the Ocean) joined the trio and the permanent Hara Kiri line-up had finally been found. The two new members contributed towards a more eclectic, yet also more focussed sound and direction, which has far exceeded the initial hopes and expectations of the original three.
