I'll Be The One Tonight I'll Be The One Tonight
I formed DIMAGE in 1990. We toured regionally in the southeast including an opening spot with LYNYRD SKYNYRD in 1992. We recieved compliments from major record labels and even received some radio air play but Grunge virtually killed melodic rock music so the labels were reluctant to sign us. I chose to feature DIMAGE on SoundClick because I have discovered recently that there seems to be a new audience interested in melodic rock. Hope you enjoy DIMAGE's music or if not I welcome any comments. - Nikki Dimage (2005)
Band/artist history
DIMAGE was founded in 1990 by Nikki Dimage and Brian Azbell. Dimage had played with Azbell in his band METALTEK but they decided to go back to their personal roots and form a melodic rock / powerpop band. The first new member was Guitarist Jason Staton. A G.I.T. graduate, Staton had previously played in ASYLUM with singer Scott Board. ASYLUM once opened for QUEENSRYCHE and Board at the time was also still a member of CEREBUS. CEREBUS is still known in the underground metal scene including out in cyberspace. In 1985, CEREBUS' album TOO LATE TO PRAY was released on New Renaissance records. It was a hit on the Metal charts in Germany & the band was even asked to tour in Europe but didn't have the financial backing to go. Board left CEREBUS after 11 years to become DIMAGE's frontman. The DIMAGE lineup was completed by Bassist Russ Kahle and recorded the demo featured here in the summer of 1991. Dimage began playing regionally in November, highlghted by the SKYNYRD show mentioned above. As also mentioned above DIMAGE disbanded in 1993. Hey guys, we aren't KISS or MOTLEY CRUE but maybe somebody out in cyberspace is waiting for a DIMAGE reunion! LOL - Nikki Dimage (2005)
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We disbanded in 1993. The SKYNYRD show was a once in a lifetime opportunity for an unsigned band. We performed to over 20,000 people on the 4th of July in Charleston, SC in 1992. The concert was a free outdoor show and by the time SKYNYRD hit the stage there were over 40,000 people there. Because of this the show was even mentioned on CNN as one of the biggest events in the country that day (July 4th 1992)
Your musical influences
I knew I wanted to be a musician the first time I saw KISS in 1974. My personal writing and playing style however is more influenced by bands like BOSTON, JOURNEY and FIREHOUSE.
What equipment do you use?
JACKSON, CARVIN, B.C.RICH, OVATION, FENDER & IBANEZ Guitars / ROSCOE Basses/ LUDWIG Drums/ MARSHALL & CARVIN Amps / ROLAND Keyboards
