Ever since closing the Hip-Hop Summit in Lynchburg, VA with the show stopping “Is this my Life”, along with then group member J-O “Point Blank” has quickly become a household name in the Lynchburg music scene. Now a duo consisting of rapper Jizz Coreleone & rapper/producer Willy G continued to build a buzz for themselves with follow-up performances at the Cultural Classic, The Juneteenth Celebration, and many other community events as well as taking time to register voters at a Voter Registration Drive sponsored by Top of World, The Lynchburg Voters League, & VSOP Music Management in August. But if there was ever a point where they forever answered the question of whether they belonged among the city’s elite it was at the Sonia Blade Urban Music Review, their performance left every one in attendance buzzin after the show and High Quality CEO Jared Hunter even commented “Call the cops Point Blank just stole the Show” as he was leaving the Ellington Fellowship Playhouse. That evening also featured performances by EA Records Jay Boyd, MOBAN artist Haze, MOBAN/VSOP artist Tom Diggs, as well as VSOP cohort Diezal. “It’s almost like we used 2004 as an introduction but that wasn’t by design, I would have at least tried to drop an EP by this past summer but it seemed like every weekend we had a show so it was hard to try to put every thing together on the run,” says VSOP Music CEO
Skylyn Hagins. With a mix tape being given out as a bonus with the new Diezal album set to drop in January the “PA/VA connect” are quietly setting up a most anticipated debut that if they are not careful will wind up being way bigger than they even expected.
That being said we have not mentioned the fact that Willy G is quietly becoming one of the most sought after producers around. Star Nyce, Haze, Tom Diggs, & Thug Angel is just a few that have laid down a 16 or 2 to Willy G track. In addition, he will be doing the lions share of production for label mates, R&B songstress Lateefa Taylor’s “Just Me” Album dropping in April, Liquid Asid’s follow-up dropping in June, members of Willy G’s own Soulja Tones Production team and of course the Point Blank debut dropping March 1st. So for Philly boy Jizz who used to battle cats on those rough North Philly streets just because and the Hill City’s Willy G who is creating a “Kanye” like buzz for himself only time will tell if all the hype will translate into units.Have you performed in front of an audience?Of course we play live and every time we hit the stage its something special.
