Our band doesn't really have a solid genre nailed down -- at all. Of the 8 or so originals we have (2 now retired, written with a previous lineup), we've covered straight-ahead funk, epic metal, lounge jazz, generic rock, acid prog, and ballads.
Our lineup, as of now, is Luke Sidey and Matt Aylsworth on guitar (they switch off on rhythm and lead), Aaron Saunders on bass, Graham Wise on drums, and Sydney Dunitz doing vocals.

Formed with Evan Wise playing lead guitar and Matt Scott on bass (Luke and Aaron come later), Stalin started off doing covers of classic rock tunes like Paint it Black, Shook Me All Night Long, and Crazy On You. They wrote two originals with that lineup, and performed live a few times. Around June of 2004, Matt left to be a camp counsellor and then in September, both he and Evan left to go to post-secondary school.
Stalin took a bit of a break during the summer, but fired back up again with Luke and Aaron filling in the spots of Evan and Matt. We all decided to go only-original, dumped the covers, both the first two originals, and got cracking on writing our own music.
As of now, we've spanned several musical genres with a number of originals and should have a demo out by January.Have you performed in front of an audience?We play at the Legion here in Napanee, Ontario occasionally and have peformed at school coffee houses and shows several times this year.

Matt - All manner of rock and roll from Guns and Roses to AC/DC and Aerosmith.
Luke - Tom Morello of RATM, lots of rock and funk.
Aaron - Jazz (Ray Brown, Victor Wooten, Jaco), James Jamerson (Motown), various horn players (Parker, Coltrane, Davis), Les Claypool, Flea, Stanley Clarke
Graham - Chad Smith (RHCP), Tim Alexander and Brain (Primus), various other drummers.

Matt - Ibanez Jet King 1 with D'addario strings, several Danelectro Pedals, Peavey Envoy amplifier
Luke - Fender American Stratocaster, DOD Distortion and Dunlop Wah pedals, Peavey Banditt amplifier
Aaron - Yamaha BB404 Fretless bass with Thomastik-Infeld strings, Digitech BP50, Yorkville XS400 amplifier
Graham - Stage Custom Advantage drum kit with Sabian and Zildjian cymbals, Remo drum heads, several kinds of sticks (Zildjian Travis Barker signatures, Carbosticks, etc.)
