Blair Lavigne, was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana
With his father being a Jazz musician/producer, his love for music began as he was exposed to music everyday. By the age of 10 he started learning drums, and studying different aspects of Jazz music.
While attending St. Augustine high school, he joined the ?Marching 100? band playing in the trumpet section. Blair soon realized that his passion wasn't for performing, but creating music for the performers. At that moment he started to study music, experiment, and master the use of keyboards and various software. With this, he developed a special ear for R&B/Soul/Hip-Hop.
In 2005, Hurricane Katrina devastated his home along with the rest of New Orleans; all of his possessions were lost. As he arrived back to his hometown, he resumed his schooling at New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) where he studied audio engineering, and video/film production for 3 years. He became greatly efficient in Pro Tools audio editing software, and Final Cut video editing software. Under the instruction of Grammy Award Winner, Steve Reynolds, he won DownBeat Magazine?s Student Music Awards, ?Best Studio Recording? for (?All I Need? which was produced, written and contained live string orchestration composed by Blair, see folder, CD?).
In addition, Blair gained the opportunity to score independent films, some of which were screened in worldwide film festivals during his years in high School. Also, as a graduation requirement from NOCCA in Media Arts, Blair directed, edited, and performed in his first full-length music video (see folder for DVD).
Later that year, he was awarded a full scholarship to attend the 3rd Annual Grammy Camp in Los Angeles. For 2 weeks he was provided intense instruction from industry professionals in the career track of Music Production.
Currently 18 years old and a freshman at Loyola University New Orleans-home of the Thelonious Monk Institute-Blair continues to produce several genres of music with an eclectic style. He strives to write and produce for artists that share his love and passion for good music. His goal is to have a long career as a unique, creative songwriter and music producer. He has a gift and desires to use it.
