Band/artist history
scapegoat was formed on the very first hours of September 15, 2001. The guys have been friends for a long time and always have hung out but it wasn't until that summer of 2001 that the band was actually put together piece by piece, and it wasn't until later that they would have a complete band. Mike Docken was the first member of the band. It was his idea to start a band, and it was Mike that encouraged the others to join. The guys thought it was as they called it a "pipe dream," but when Tony finally bought a bass guitar there was a feeling in the air like something was actually going to happen. They now had the guitars in the band that they needed so they went to their friend J.P. for the vocals. Everyone says he has a good, deep voice so it was only natural to throw him in front of a mic. So there were three people in the band and they had no drums. The first name that the guys went along with as their name was Evil Beaver. To their dismay, they found that the name was already taken. It took many days and months to come up with scapegoat. Upon many different managerial and possible drummers, scapegoat was finally recommended the drummer Kevin McKeague. Kevin was recommended by his cousin Chris Casselman who is the frontman of the band Limit
