Roland is a "Blues Hearted Man" from his fiery vocals to his piercing guitar, to his acerbic wit,
you can hear and feel the influence of
the blues Masters. However, what one also hears is an original and authentic "blues" man.
Roland has been performing Blues, Soul, and Jazz since 1970. At 15yrs. of age he sang lead vocals in a West Coast influenced R&B band, "United We". After leaving the band, getting a degree in History, and teaching in a Community college in Kansas City, MO., Roland landed a gig with the Temptations.
In the early 1980's, he opened shows for the Temptations, Roy Ayers, Stanley Clark, George Duke, Smokey Robinson, The Jones Girls, Norman Connors, Peabo Bryson, The Gap Band, and Rick James. He also worked as a sideman for Curtis Mayfield.
Roland is currently performing in the Midwest. From the "Down Home" blues to the Latin beats, to the sometimes ethereal wailing of his solos,
ROLAND ALLEN is a unique individual.
