Band/artist history
MorningSide was founded in 2001 by four friends who wanted to make some of their dreams come true and create some incredible hard-driving modern rock music. The band has been through many changes throughout the years but just keeps getting stronger. With influences such as Fuel, Incubus and Metallica the band began playing venues in Philly in 2002. MorningSide played at the Grape Street Pub, Club HP, Club DOS, DeSales University, and Club Abilene among others. After a successful night of playing Club DOS in 2002 they were invited back to headline the New Years Eve 2003 show. along with special guests Star Skream & Outset.
The band couldnt wait to get their hands dirty recording all of their new material for all of the fans throughout the Philly area. MorningSides first trip into the studio to record was in December 2002. They recorded their first EP titled Today If Never Tomorrow. The EP included all of their songs including our first single, "Save Yourself." When production finally wrapped up they had seven full songs recorded and the released the record in early May 2003. After the release of their first EP the band continued to promote and play out in the Philly area. In mid 2003 the band will be took the next four months off to begin writing new material for the Summer 2003 tour. The bands original drummer and lead guitarist left the band a short time after the Summer of 2003.
The end of Summer and Fall 2003 were changing times for MorningSide The current line-up for MorningSide began with the find of drummer Ben Kless. Auditions for a new lead guitar player went all throughout November and December 2003. The band welcomed Peter DiCanto (formally of Hindrance) to MorningSide at the end of December. The rest of the band spent two weeks jamming with Pete before he became a full member of MorningSide. During this time the band also began looking for management in order to take them to the next level. The band signed a trial agreement with JNI Entertainment in January 2004 and continues to be managed by the company out of Springfield, PA.
MorningSide continues to rock out on a regular basis and with the new band, consisting of Sean MacGregor (Vocals/Rhythm Guitar), Pete DiCanto (Lead Guitar), Joe Mauro (Bass), and Ben Kless (Drums/Percussion), has played venues such as the Balcony at the Trocadero, Brownies 23 East, the North Star Bar, and the University of Richmond. The bands street team continues to be active in publicizing the bands music and shows and they have a photographer that records and takes pics at every show. The fans always come first so the band is constantly listening to feedback and new ideas.
They stepped back into the studio this June to record a three-song demo to start looking at the possibility of signing with a record label. The demo can be heard on their new website and hopefully will be able to be heard on many local Philly radio stations soon. The band hopes to complete various new songs to take with them for their summer shows.
MorningSideRocks.com has become a great home for their fans to discuss shows, view video clips of all their shows, download the new EP from their site, & soon to come a full concert video for all their fans to download.
