IDC Cat #0014 / KSR0001-2
“The amount of fusion and fission energy unleashed by this combo reinforces that these cats are going places.” - Long Island Entertainment
Long Island, NY natives, Karmasutra, have been ripping up stages up and down the Northeast for the past five years, but the core group has been together much longer, their whole lives in fact. The core group is made up of three brothers with immense talent and a penchant for driving their audiences into an immeasurable frenzy. Their self-titled debut album, Karmasutra, is a genre bending delight, and in it they mix together blues rock sensibilities and reggae undertones with trace essences of jam band funk rock. It is safe to say that this is one of those rare albums where every song is a gem.
Brothers Noah, Jesse and Craig Pagano, on bass, rhythm and lead guitar respectively, string together infectious melodic hooks backed by the solid drumming of Joe Guinta. In the songs like, “The Man” and “Lazy A”, the brothers fuse together seamlessly, as Noah’s playful, hook-laden bass lines superbly accent Craig’s crisp and funky rhythm guitar - providing the perfect foundation for brother Jesse to whip up impassioned vocals and intensely powerful lead riffs. That bond combined with the backing drums makes each song on Karmasutra a wholly magnificent piece of music. Main lyricist, Jesse Pagano, writes songs that are nothing short of poetic, with lyrics like, “Every movement that you make/Causes the whole Universe to shake/It’s like casting a stone into a lake/All the shores will be hit by the wake”; each song on the album relays a conscious message while infusing humor and metaphor to make them universally accessible. Karmasutra also excels on a more-down tempo level with songs like “Nice To Be You”, “Positive Vibration” and instrumentals like “Alaska”, making their debut album perfectly balanced between the blues-rock jam style and slow, laid back melodies.
Karmasutra is a band who’s future is crystal clear; they are poised to take the independent music scene by storm. Their self-titled debut album is one that appeals to fans of blues, rock, groove and jam bands alike. Karmasutra is dedicated to their music, and that will involuntarily propel them toward the spotlight. The band currently plays dates in Long Island and New York City. A 2005 winter tour of the Northeast is in the works, as well as some west coast festival dates this spring and summer.

This is the bestmusic I've heard in a while. Especially I really liked "Away From Here."
