Ugly Friend is a rock and roll trio based out of NYC. Their music is a mixture of power chords accompanied with melodic rhythms with a punk edge. The bands influences range from the legendary Replacements to G.G. Allin. The band features singer/guitarist Mikey O', Flip on bass, and Goose on drums.
They are currently booking live shows for their "LIVE in '05" promotion to support their sophomore album "Number Two", a follow-up to 2002's debut disc "All Bagged Up". Their live shows have been focused mainly in New York City, with stops at such legendary venues as CBGB, Don Hill's, Continental, and L'Amour. They have also ventured Connecticut and New Jersey area with plans on expanding their geographical horizons this Summer. They have shared the stage with national acts such as The Mentors, Jackyl, The Dave Brockie Experience, the Murder Junkies, Joey Belladonna, ex-Misfit Michale Graves, TORG and The Unseen.
Ugly Friend has been added to the playlists of many college radio stations in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Massachusetts, also repeatedly featured on NYC's Q104.3's "Out of the Box" with Jonathan Clarke. They can also be found on the playlists of many internet based radio programs. Video feeds of their concert performances have also been broadcast live on the internet.
With a new studio album in the writing process, and a handful of live shows to promote their existing discs, there doesn't seem to be any sign of slowing down for these Ugly Friends. More songs, more shows, and more craziness are just a few of the things guaranteed for their fans in 2005...
Yes, we play live. Mostly in NYC, but we occasionally venture outward into NJ, CT, and Upstate NY.
The Replacements probably figure the most in the equation. But we take it a step further by adding the attitude and raw sounds of our punk influences.
