Welcome! Proletariat is a band open to anyone who wants to live the rock and roll freedom lifestyle. We hope you enjoy our songs very much, and we also appreciate your interest in bands attempting originality. Support your local scene!
Band/artist history
Originally formed in the winter of 2001, Proletariat is composed mainly of two marching band geeks, one workaholic and a manic depressive gorrilla. Together they slap together loud rock music with pure strains of originality. These boys are in it for the long haul. Each band member has unique and disparate musical tastes. Potash is influenced by Dream Theater, NIN and Incubus; Williams by Iron Maiden and Bad Religion; Dietrich by The Smashing Pumpkins and Our Lady Peace; Diehl by Primus and Tool. Though often at the centre of heated and sometimes violent debates, these ranging stylistic differences also provide the artistic glue for Proletariat’s loud, thumping punk-metal music. Proletariat have played many shows in the greater Marietta area to mild acclaim. Their live show is renowned on the high school party circuit, although the band is admittedly still fairly green onstage. They are currently preparing a series of small tours and a debut EP to be released independently. "Frankly, there’s nothing more that I want to do with my life than play music," says guitarist Kienan Dietrich, "and to share that music with everybody I can." "This is my dream," confirms singer/guitarist Andy Potash. Now that the band is enrolled in their own separate universities, they look forward to forging their own niche in today’s hard rock environment. Proletariat feel they are ready to head out into the music wilderness and try their hand at becoming one of North America’s great new bands.
