The last letter quartet, evolved around the summer of 2004,after the split of Telford Emo-Hardcore band The Moonlit Phonecalls.
Joseph Cave(voices,guitar,loops/atmosphere) and Sean O'Hanlon (drums and percussion) decided that after the phonecalls went there seprate ways, that they wanted to try a form of music that had never really been touched on before.
Alex 'The wizard' Hubbard (Synths, keys cut ups, samples and Fx)
and Adam 'Rhino'Wilson (Bass grooves) were the 1st and obvious choice.
The last letter quartet is a focus on music rather than song, there most recent demo recorded by the band using old jazz recording techniques, is a 45 minute collective improvisation with shades of artists as diverse as:
Aphex twin,The mars volta,Bjork,Squarepusher,Le Tigre,DNTEL,John Coltrane,Ornette Coleman,Miles Davis (Bitches brew/on the corner era)The Jimi Hendrix experience,Fugazi,A.T.D.I.,Tool,A perfect circle,Sonic youth,Tom Waits,and Later experimental Beatles Recordings.
