a finnish melodic black metal act. Formed originally 1993, re-birth 2002.
Band/artist history
Goathemy story begins at 1993 when Goathman (later called as Goath) started his one-man-band after years and years playing in different death metal bands. Always (from the late 80s when Venoms Black Metal blowed his mind) addicted to black metal and the dark side of man, as his former acts never took the last step he wanted, Goath finally found what hed longed for...Goathemy was born. As a word, Goathemy means really nothing in real life. The name came into reality years before, when Goath used it as an alter ego name in a band called The Gore Josefs. It was just a word that popped up when he was thinking of different names. But Hell yeah, it tastes good and looks bad! Between the years 1993 1994 Goathemy recorded one demotape called “The Goat Fucks the Lambs” including raw & primitive Black Metal with filthy synths. This title as the song titles too reflects perfectly that frustration that Goath felt at the moment, or what you say about song titles like “Fuck you all, I am the King” or “Into the rectum of Jehva” ? Well youre right, they are just Killers! Later that (well...someone could say a cult) tape travelled from hand to hand in an underground community and it was listened to with a huge astonishment. During 1995 2001 Goathemy slept a deep black sleep when Goath worked with several different works and projects. One reason for that “break” was Goaths total frustration of Black Metal music and the Black Metal scene in these years. Millions of so called Black Metal bands came from here and there and most of them only poisoned the scene in those years. Of course there were a few mindblowing bands too, but most of them were just pure crap suited with black clothes. But nothing lasts forever. Something happened in 2001 when Goath found his way back “home”. Goaths brother Mr.Thing joined the horde and these brothers started to write really weird music. Their brilliant idea was to make devastating Black Metal versions of old songs that they heard at home when they were children. A little after that Dark was also invited to the band to make clean female vocal parts, which are nowadays an essential part of their music. That formed another principle of Goathemy, they wont use any synths at all when a real sound is available. The first demo named “Under the sign of the black cover” was recorded during 2002 at Goathemys home studio “Goathcave”with a drum machine. Goathemy was looking for a real drummer and soon after these record sessions they found Ghost, who had played with Goath in the early of 90s. Ghost joined the horde and the current line-up was formed in the fall of 2002. The year 2003 started with several problems considering a rehearsal room, but in the middle of 2003 Goathemy finally got their first permanent rehearsal room and started systematic training in that place near a dark river in Peräseinäjoki. Goathemy played their first live show in august 2003 in local boozing parties with a huge success... In 2004 it was time to forget all those cover things and concentrate to real things. Bargor joined the band with his bass-axe and new songs came out to the moonlight. The very first studio record was done at Fantom studio at summer, Year 666 lead the band to the whole new direction with a great honour for Scandinavian black metal. And the story continues...
