LEN: The Faithful Messengah, with an urban, prophetic voice, spoke to the Church and to the world in his debut CD with God Positive Productions, I Don’t Wanna Die (Not Knowing). That was just a precursor to the gifts to come !! Transcending traditional rap, LEN brings “Rhythm and Preaching” (R.A.P.) to center stage in a style that, he explains, “is a fusion of contemporary Gospel, R&B, Rap, and The WORD.”
Clear, deep spiritual truth emerges in every songmessages that “speak” about Heaven and hell, and confront human issues like homosexuality, spousal abuse, religion, family responsibility, and more. Born in Philadelphia and raised on the East coast, Leonardio Heilig “LEN” started “getting melodies” and writing lyrics when he was 8 years old. By age 11, he was writing full songs. At home, young Leonardio heard artists like Al Green, Stevie Wonder, and the Isley Brothers, but today, LEN’s lyrics and compositions are God-inspired. “I’ve taken 2 piano lessons in my entire life,” LEN recalls, “ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE WITH HIM!” They truly areLEN’s gift and anointing are unmistakable.
Formerly with the group, Kaotic Science, LEN now ministers “solo”, pursuing the vision God has given him-from 'Day 1'-“to bridge the age gap inside the church; to renew and encourage believers to stand up as one, young & old; to take the Word outside of the church walls and into the bowels of the enemy’s campTo honor the Lord with the gift He has given me by using it to first, fortify, then to increase the Kingdom. I’m trying to reach the lost... inside and outside of the church.” LEN does just that. He’s actively involved in church, as well as in prison and detention center ministry.
LEN is a diligent student of the Word, the mark of his musical messages. Having an Islamic background, LEN remembers, “Islam taught me to study and research everything, rather than to just accept what someone else said and rely on emotion. SEEK FACTS. The Word is truly INFALLIBLE. God told me to make it MORE than clear that there are no loopholes in His Word, 'cause there’s been a whole lot of confessing, but not a lot of true believing!”
His melodies span a variety of styles and appeal on virtually every level, even to the elderly. Sixty and seventy year olds have purchased LEN’s CD, saying it was the “first time they could understand rap.” Keeping the vision, LEN counts these among his “most rewarding” experiences. Beyond this, even members of the media have described his message as being “subliminal dynamite” that “speaks to your consciousness.”
LEN-a versatile artist/producer/songwriter who refuses to compromise the message. The pure truth and power in his lyrics have brought him such honors as being a nominee for GTM Magazine's Independent Gospel Rap Artist of the Year (2002). The year 2002 also saw LEN place 3 songs in the Top 20 of the Joyful Noize International Rap Chart, and his debut CD garner play on nearly 150 stations nationwide!
LEN’s prophetic message runs deep, challenging and motivating his audience to understand the “truth” that will set them free. “Check me against the scripture,” he says, “You don’t have to like it, but you can’t say I lied!”
LEN is currently recording his next album project, entitled "Shake Up The World" ( 2004 )on Fella-Ship Records, and producing several other artists. He resides in the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex area in Texas.Have you performed in front of an audience?Live ministry is the foundation of my artistry. I have been on tour and participated in many large live events all over the country, but I find the most reward in ministering to intimate audiences. Prisons, detention centers, and small churches.
