Brothering stems from a long line of South African Rock history. They first began jamming in 1986. The band basically comes from a collaboration of , Brutal Awakening, , , Band O' Gypsys, Dahnoyet, The blast & Balance. These were all bands that the members of Brothering happened to play for in the last 12 years, some names here had tremendous influence over the rock scene in S.A. Brothering was formed in the early days of February 1997. Though just a three piece the sounds and direction of this live act are broad with many little nuances to tickle the toughest of buds. After a tremendously short time of less than one month, Brothering already got it’s fresh fingers in the doors of the gig world. Performing their debut at The Doors night club, this was to be followed by a string of live gigs, big shows and festivals : Wings Beat Bar, Hunters Pub, Café Galleria, OppiKoppi, Concert on the Farm, The Viper Room, Club Icon, Morgan’s Cat, Roxy Rhythm Bar, Route 59 and The Abyss to name a handful ! Brothering have also surprised audiences and fans by performing at the Rainbow Drag Strip for the 1997 Annual Bike Show, Three Rivers High School and at the President Park stadium on National Freedom Day. One of this trio’s biggest highlights for 1997 was when they took first prize at the Wings - Red Heart - Top 40 - T. O. M. S. Battle of the Bands Competition. As a result they enjoyed plenty of media coverage such as magazine acknowledgements by Top 40, Student Life. More features include radio interviews with Frank Ferro from 'Ferro Metal' on the Portuguese community station, "Justin" from Tux FM, Radio Cani with Simon and of course Phil Wright from 5fm (with a bit of additional air time courtesy Barney Simon - 5FM). At present Dean is playing in a band called in London with Daniel Stevenson of fame. They have been recording for the past year, material originally intended for the project. They are due to release an album at the end of the year, in May this year Dean met with Robi in Canada and the bass tracks were recorded. Tulsa is Playing in

Anything else?
Hailing from South Africa BROTHERING have been working very hard to get their name out internationally. It is always nice to see a band who has a lot of confidence in themselves and actually has a different twist to their sound. Yes definitely, we grew up on Black Sabbath, Metallica, Hendrix etc, when we first started jamming in 1986 we played only covers, our faves were - metallica, sabbath, motorhead, s.o.d.(speak english or die), warfare, slayer etc. The name stems from a long history of bands & friends, we basically have had the same following of real close friends for the past 11 years....
