Crystine is one of the hottest female vocalists to come out of Canada in recent years. A vibrant singer & songwriter, Crystine brings talent and creativity to life with her sultry soulful voice and sweet R&B styled harmonies.
Band/artist history
Music has been an important part of Crystine's life since the age of eight. Both her mother and father were Country & Western singers who performed at such legendary bars as the Horseshoe Tavern and Cameron House in Toronto. Crystine spent most of her childhood singing and dancing in musical theatre productions across Ontario. She later attended The Etobicoke High School of Performing Arts where she majored in music. But, the biggest influences on her musical style were the culturally diverse sounds of Soul, R&B, Funk, Hip Hop and Disco of the inner city where she grew up that most inspired her to sing and create music today. Her influences include Aretha Franklin, Patti Labelle, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Janet Jackson, some of the most influential female vocalists of our time. BILLBOARD Magazine in reviewing her first released single Love Thing in 1991, described her vocal performance as "....silky understated stylings..". In 1992 STREETSOUND's Ben Salem, had this to say: "One of Toronto's hottest female vocalists struts back onto the dance scene with the popified house track Been So Long". On her first attempt at writing Crystine teamed up with Simply Majestic, one of Canada's original Hip Hop/Dance music artist, for her third released single Go Go Dancer. This collaboration landed her with a track that topped the dance music charts across Canada and played on dance music radio stations in high rotation for 2 1/2 years. Go Go Dancer has been distributed worldwide and has been featured on several compilation albums including Much Music and Quality/Radikal Records' Club House 100% Dance.
