Picture for song 'Me, You, & Your Girlfriend' by artist 'Mike Zute'

Me, You, & Your Girlfriend Me, You, & Your Girlfriend

The song is about a threesome between a guy, his girlfriend, and her girlfriend. Musically, it's like Alternative Punk (i.e. Foo Fighters, The Offspring) with a groove metal bridge section (i.e. Korn, Black Sabbath).

Pop Punk

Your Life Choose It Your Life Choose It

This is my demented anthem for dropping out of 'the class' system, and making my own rules. It mixes some weird styles from the early 80's (ala Devo, Bauhaus) with a little bit of the late 90's Rap / Spoken word type alternative (ala Cake, NIN)

It's So Real- full version It's So Real- full version

The lyrics shine hope that a non-committal individual like myself can possibly commit to a monogamous relationship at some point. Musically this is in the vein of Sublime, Weezer, Barenaked Ladies, etc. It's got some bounce, baby!

Staring at Me Staring at Me

You earthlings are stupid, stupid, stupid if you don't listen to this one! (Lyrically, it's about Alien Abduction!) Musically, this is a Retro Zute tune, so it sounds like it's from the 70's (i.e. Sabbath, Tull, Floyd, Bauhaus, Rush, etc)

Picture for song 'Hard Road' by artist 'Mike Zute'

Hard Road Hard Road

Musically, this is RetroZute tune, so it sounds like it was recorded in the 70's. Maybe say it has a Sabbath/ Rush meets new wave vibe to it. Lyrically, this song is about the difficulties one may experience in growing up.

Hey, I'm Mike Zute, a multi-faceted musician / entertainer. This site serves the purpose of hosting my audio media, Primarily my original songs: mostly in the style of Modern & Retro Rock. (This site also contains miscellaneous audio as well, such as comedy, and interviews w/ ZuteGirl Models.) Just click "music" on the top area of this page to unfurl this fine audio! Aside from this site, there is more current info at my band's main website: You can also goto is now primarily used to promote the ZUTE cover band, and here is where I'll post info and media regarding original music. My interview and band history on this page might not be current (circa 2005/2006), but I will leave them here til further notice. Here is my list of musical influences which used to be on myspace: -I'll try to list the bands that were most influential in making me want to perform & write music: 60's & 70's Guitar Rock: i.e. Black Sabbath, The Kinks, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Zombies, Jethro Tull, Rush, Kiss;; Classic Folk / Country: Johnny Cash, John Denver, Jim Croce;; Old School Punk: Bad Religion, The Descendents, The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, Suicidal Tendencies;; 80's Metal: Iron Maiden, Metallica, Whitesnake, Motley Crue;; 80's Alternative: Devo, Talking Heads, Smithereens;; 90's Alternative: Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, N.I.N., Rage/Machine, Sublime, Presidents of USA;; 90?s Pop Punk: Green Day, Dramarama, Blink 182, The Offspring, Weezer;; 90?s Metal: Korn, Clutch, Helmet, Godsmack, System of a Down;; etc. I have a million other influences, but this gives you an idea. There is no way that one of my tunes can reflect all of these bands. -Sometimes the Non-conformist, defiant attitude and lyrics of some of these artists is a bigger influence than their music, and visa-versa. (Some have hit me more with the music than the lyrics/ attitude.)
Band/artist history
It is currently 2010, and not the bio below may not reflect my current status, but here it is: This is my long drawn out history (updated as of June 2006) as a musician/singer/songwriter, dealing with everything from my early musical endeavors to my adult entertainment escapades: Mike "Zute" P****** (His last name begins w/ P, hence another nickname: MZP) has been involved in performing and creating music for over 15 years. His first rock instrument was the bass guitar at age 16. He jammed and performed with various Hard Rock Cover/ Original bands in high school. This enabled him to develop the rock fundamentals on bass. However, in 1991, Mike became disgusted as a bassist in the fizzling Jersey Hair Band scene. He took a break from original music for a while. In 1992, He fell into a period of depression: Mostly caused by the loss of his Mother to breast cancer, and numerous bad relationships with girls. While battling this depression, he began to dabble in songwriting. He was eventually able to finish up his college education. Then he began to play in a diverse cover band, circa 1996. This helped him to grow musically, by focusing on how good songs are structured and performed. He also strengthened his talents on the other main rock instruments: lead/ rhythm guitar, drums, and vocal technique also. Finally, by '98, he realized he was able to write effective and catchy songs, in a style with many influences: An ear grabbing style that M"Z"P calls Modern/ Retro Hybrid Rock. He received both positive feedback and constructive criticism for "The First Demo Album of Zute Tunes:" A 10 song original demo he self-recorded on an analog 4 track, then burned onto CD's in '99. (The songs he included on that demo album were heavily influenced by the depression he had been through, but his tongue-in-cheek humor would still shine through on occasion.) Click for a review of it: . After that project, Mike continued to improve his recording and musical skills, by releasing one song at a time. His song "Sunblock 2 Million" was featured on Magazine's ?More Original Music Volume 2? compilation CD in 2001. In 2002 his song "Me, You, and Your GirlFriend" was spun by the NJ commercial radio station: 105.5 WDHA FM a few times. The desire to perform these songs inspired Mike to eventually form ZUTE (the band), in 2002. His role is bassist/ lead vocalist in the ZUTE band. ZUTE began as a 3 piece band with the intention to play both covers and originals. Since then, the band has had a lineup change, then picked up in popularity in the cover circuit. However, this ?cover band atmosphere? has limited how many originals can be performed live. Therefore he will soon be playing once a month as ?Mike Zute Solo,? performing mostly originals on acoustic guitar. This will hopefully lead to full band performances of originals too. In the meantime, he still self records demos of his original songs on his 16 track digital recorder.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Currently the ZUTE band plays live all around, mostly North Jersey, and some of New York. Playing out as a cover band that does some originals is fun. but I'm looking to perform more originals in the near future. For gig info goto:
