Davids music is propelled by a hard-driving alternating thumb. Add plenty of blues licks, hammer-ons, pull-offs, and bends, and before you know it youll be tapping your foot to the infectious beat. And smiling.Band/artist history
I was born and raised in Central Illinois and I've been playing acoustic guitar for over 30 years. A good friend urged me to start playing out about 5 years ago so I did a couple shows. This year I'm doing nearly 40 shows and I'm already booked up through December! It's exeeded my highest expectation. I'm having a blast!Have you performed in front of an audience?I love to play live! There is nothing like feeling of pulling off a great performance for a crowd that's really into it. Every once in a while I'll look out and catch someone with their eyes closed, a foot tapping, head bobbing, body swaying, and a smile on their face. That's what it's all about for me.
Your musical influences
I've been influenced by a wide variety of artists including Chet Atkins, Doc Watson, Gregg Allman, Leo Kottke, John Fahey, Rev. Gary Davis, and Jorma Kaukonen.What equipment do you use?
I love the way my acoustic guitars sound at home. My goal at shows is to get as close to that as possible in the most simple and economical way.
I use B-Band and K&K Sound pickups. They are both great systems and sound very natrual. The B-Band setup on my Larrivee Dreadnaught has an onboard preamp/blender and two pickups - an under saddle transducer (UST) and an acoustic sound board transducer (AST). I plug the Larrivee straight into the board and it always sounds awesome.
The K&K Pure Western on my Collings and Larrivee small body is also a sound board transducer. I plug it into a K&K Pure Preamp and then go to the board. It sounds wonderful!
If you told me 5 years ago that you could plug in an acoustic guitar and hear wood, I would have said, "Bah!", but today it is true with both my pickup systems. And that's without the hassles of an internal microphnone.Anything else?

Just absolutely beautiful! "Serenity" is exactly that (and exactly what I needed after a long day!)
Hi David;
Just added "Windy and Warm" to songswriter's station. Got to hit the hot button on this song. That is some very nice finger pick'n and the melody of line was clean and clear the whole time. Excellent. Very nice to listen to again and again.
