Whether its the crisp vocals or the ripping guitar licks, Crystal Armentrout emanates an energy that is comparable to that of many of her influences. With a growing admiration of all types of music, she has crafted her music from the styles of such greats as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Sheryl Crow and Bonnie Raitt. Not limited to only these genres, she has become an accomplished vocalist, guitarist, saxophonist and songwriter. Playing in bands for more than a decade, Crystal has fronted and led her own group, the Crystal Armentrout Band (CAB) for 5 years. A graduate of Mary Baldwin College, her focus since has been writing and performing quality music; original music drawn from CABs debut CD, "Im Not Alone" (released in 1996), through the newer grooves of her sophomore release Self-Titled CD album (November 1998). From the blues-driven hit Bye-Bye to the haunting cut When, this CD shows a maturity that can only come from experience. Ms. Armentrout has defined a style all her own: A sometimes-timid storyteller evolving into a Rock n Roll banshee.
Crystal performs in a variety of configurations from solo to seven or eight piece bands and all combinations in between. Crystal has opened for such acts as Jeff Healey, Molly Hatchet, Eddie From Ohio, Blue Miracle, Bill Deal & The Rhondells, The Guess Who, Indigenous and, most recently, The Gibb Droll Band. Her numerous performances stretch from Awful Arthurs in Charlottesville, Virginia, through the Riverbend festival in Chattanooga, TN, to Eddies Attic in Atlanta, GA. Whatever she chooses to perform, from blues to contemporary pop, her skills and spirit end up impressing, if not wowing and overwhelming her audience.
