Valleri Sauro is a songwriter and a composer of cinematic and light classical music. Her music is strongly influenced by the Great Masters like Beethoven, Chopin and Ravel. She is also influenced by the Beatles, Supertramp, Barbara Streisand and musical theatre. This eclectic combination of flavors is distilled uniquely in her songs and compositions.
Growing up, Valleri was rigorously trained in the Royal Conservatory curriculum for piano and voice. She has also been teaching piano and voice to students of all ages for many years. Outside of teaching, she performs actively as a pianist and vocalist and has spent the last four years performing with her daughter, 12 year-old singing sensation, Emily Sauro-Langlois, at various venues across Ontario.
Valleri produced and performed on Emilys first CD, Klassic Kid. The second CD, Dancing Teddy Bears, released in 2003 and featuring the mother-daughter duo, was written, produced, arranged and engineered by Valleri with the musical contributions of Marc Ballesteros (guitarist), Kevin Zarnett (guitarist), Susan Markle (lyricist) and mastered by Sam Reid of Glass Tiger.
When she is not composing or recording in her studio, Valleri leads two songwriting groups--Just Plain Folks, Toronto Chapter and Songstage North, Songwriters Association of Canada (SAC). As part of her ongoing activities as the coordinator, she is instrumental in networking songwriters with music industry professionals. She also supports organizations such as the NSAI (Brampton Chapter), SAC, and The Big Schmooze to connect with developing artists. One of the most recent workshops she gave as a spokesperson for Just Plain Folks , was an outreach to students at Bayview Secondary School (Richmond Hill) on songwriting and networking. She will be serving as a Chapter Judge for the Just Plain Folks 2004 Music Awards.
Valleri's musical skills are many but are most evident in her instrumental music. She is particularly talented in creating different spectrums of emotion and soundscapes in her compositions and is inevitably shifting heavily towards music for film and television. Valleri has just released her new CD, Introspective, which is receiving radio play and is available for purchase at www.puretracks.com.
