Hailing originally from Massachusetts, Jimmy started writing and playing guitar at age 11, and formed his first band "Opaque" at 14. Recruited as lead guitarist for the area's top band "CUCKOO'S NEST", he played up and down the New England coast during the early 70's. Spanning a musical career of over 30 years, Jimmy has played all over the world with many different bands and with his own "JIMMY STEWART BAND". Limited commerical success came with the release of his solo LP, "Cordially" in the UK. The album was mastered at Utopia Studios in London, and distributed by Pinnacle Records, London England. Now living in the mountains of N.E. PA, Jimmy writes and plays at his leisure, in his own, newly built studio and for his own indie record label.
Stewart Records actually started back in the Summer of 1982, when after seeking out a label contract from every major record label in London, I decided to try and do the record myself.
After working on the demo's for about 6 months, a demo tape was sent to Pinnacle Records with a positive response. Pinnacle wanted to distribute the album, and agreed to assist in the production, manufacturing and distribution of "Cordially".
"Cordially" was released in October 1982, under the Stewart Records label, with distribution by Pinnacle.
This was the start of Stewart Records, and with the coming of the "digital age", "Cordially" was re-released in May of 1999 on the internet, and through MP3 internet sites such as MP3.COM and AMP3.COM.
Many tracks off the CD, along with others have since received THOUSANDS of downloads, with many tracks reaching the NUMBER ONE position in their genre both at MP3 and AMP3.
The title track, "Cordially" was also selected for the AMP3 compilation, "104 Songs That Will Change Your Life" that was distributed at Woodstock 99, and "Requiem" is now on the brand new Pink Floyd tribute CD available at www.mp3.com/PFTribute
With international distribution now available over the internet, Stewart Records is a real live, living and breathing label.
