Mente Urbana is the newest sound to hit the Latin Hip-Hop and R&B scene and it has already become the sound behind Sonys Aiwa sound systems with commercials featuring songs from their debut CD Tormenta.
It all started when producer Kaydean met up with singer Janid and rapper Laser Rick to work on demos for Sony Music. Impressed by their immediate and amazing chemistry, Kaydean found what was missing in the current Urban Latin scene. Finding common ground in their urban upbringing, the love for their Latin heritage and their disappointment with previous attempts from the Latin culture in R&B and Hip Hop, Mente Urbana was formed.
Individually, each member is a critical part in Mente Urbanas sound. Kaydean, from the Bronx, NY, provides The Music; the rhythm and flavor of the Hip-Hop and R&B from the East Coast of the United States.
Janid, from Guaynabo, PR, is The Voice; the heart and soul of Mente Urbana.s persona. Her commercial-friendly beauty mixed with her powerful and soulful voice provides Mente Urbanas strong sex appeal. Her natural ability to weave 5 voice harmonies into smooth sultry vocal arrangements commands the respect of her critics, peers and fans.
Finally, Laser Rick, The Poet, from Carolina, PR, writes words that communicate outstanding imagery, but he communicates them with an aggressiveness and style that has never been seen in the Latin market.
