Band/artist history
As the members of Visceral look out from their home stage at Studio 111 in Flagstaff, Arizona they are taken back by all of those that have carried them this far. By responding emotionally to the music, their audience has created the fuel to fire this band. It is these fans, and those who will join them, that will lift Visceral up into the future.
The band holds dreams of the sky, but the roots of Visceral first took hold in the summer of 2002. It was then that Judd Nemiro, a driven and intellectual guitarist, met Abe Schmidt, a gifted performer and budding vocalist, at a gathering of mutual friends in Flagstaff, AZ. Both of them were NAU students and both shared an undeniable passion for music. Their friendship grew and they began booking acoustic shows at a local coffee house. There they performed covers and Viscerals first original compositions, which included the fan favorite Broken.
Soon after, Judd and Abe enlisted Mike Bielecki, an innovative drummer emerging in to the Flagstaff music scene. The three members developed a unique sound, but Visceral lacked a bass guitarist. After hanging many flyers they received a promising response from Brent Schick, a creative songwriter and talented bassist. His musical ability and admission into the band completed Visceral.
Since then, Judd, Abe, Mike, and Brent have become brothers and forged a common goal of creating music for their fans. This determination garnered Visceral an invitation to play at the 2003 AIM Awards, a celebration of the best independent music in Arizona. The band was selected out of musical acts across the state by a full committee of directors for the AIM Awards Foundation. It was here the band established themselves as peers with leaders of the Arizona music scene. By playing at the NAU Rockfest in August of 2003, Visceral further strengthened their credibility as a dominant member of the musical community. They have been given a chance to play with bands of high professional caliber and create bonds that will only become stronger with time.
The members of Visceral look optimistically towards the future and the new year. Their inaugural CD release is in late February 2004 and their first West Coast tour will span from March to May. With such strong roots and dedicated hands holding them up, for Visceral, reaching the sky may not just be a dream!
