Your not Ready Your not Ready
Heated Track off On The Block Records Comp "State Of Emergency
Hip-hop started in the street. The people had a story to tell. And a voice to share it with.
On The Block Records continues that legacy on its debut full-length album entitled State Of Emergency that hit the streets on March 30.
The compilation unleashes a talented and determined five-artist roster assembled by On The Block chief executive officer James (JC)
Williams. Ranging from straight talk about real life to soothing r & b tracks, SOE balances its versatility through the consistent flavor
from either Williams or his brother-in-law and vice president Travis Williams, who combined to produce 14 of the 17 tracks.
The overall goal was to let everybody know that there is good music in Washington state, emphasized James (JC) Williams. Were
bringing the added aspect of r & b and professionalism to get to the next level.
The foundation for SOE has already been cemented with the success of Naja Shiris Dat Bomb produced by Jay 1. With a vibrant
and smooth voice, Shiri easily draws comparisons to the likes of Brandy. The summertime anthem broadcast over the airwaves of over
60 commercial radio stations cross-country in the summer of 2003 including WIBB Macon (GA), Kube 93 Seattle (WA), KRRQ Lafayette (LA) to name a few. It also ascended into the top 25 of Starfleet record pool , Sure Record pool, and NWDA after its release in July of 2003. That success also drew demands for live performances in place like Seattle, WA Fayetteville, NC Macon, GA and Albany GA as well as numerous radio station visits in Louisiana Essences festival weekend.
I knew it was a hit track but it caught me off guard just how fast it took off, remarked Travis
Williams.
For the follow-up single, On The Block will again tap into r & b with Shis Cmone which features the emcee Scurve. It effortlessly captures that carefree and feel-good vibe perfect for a Sunday
afternoon barbeque. The b-side taps into the abilities of producers Mr. Supreme, Funk Daddy, Xtravagant and Travis Williams for four
different remixes of Naja Shiris Dat Bomb.
SOE has already reached the ears of the masses and continues to build momentum with each passing day.
And it all began On The Block.
