Bimbo Boy is a male version of Samantha Fox and Marilyn Monroe. He is a Swedish artist who wants to make it big. The sound is sexy and very gay!Band/artist history
Bimbo Boy’s real name is Dennis Svedberg Hellström and he grew up in the small town of Sandviken in Sweden. He was born in 1984 and since he was a little child he’s been interested in music and movies. Dennis comes from a musically talented family and has been singing since he was very young. When Dennis isn’t writing lyrics or listening to 80’s pop music, he’s dreaming away in front of classic Hollywood movies with his big idol Marilyn Monroe or goes shopping with his friends.
In June 2002 Dennis’ big dream came true. That’s when he got to record his first songs. He wrote the lyrics to both of the songs ”You (Are My Life)” and ”I Won’t Do It For Free” himself and went down to Quest Studios in Uppsala to record them. After the songs were finished, Bimbo Boy got noticed. His songs were played at different radio stations and more producers got in touch with Dennis and wanted to work with him. In October the same year he recorded his third demo song ”Earthquake”.
Bimbo Boy has been especially noticed in the gay community. Dennis chose to promote himself there because he’s gay himself and because he knew that his kind of music would do well there. Dennis also wants to use his music to promote acceptance of homosexuals and also to help young people who are in the same situation he once was. Dennis was hazed most of his time in school and now he wants to help prevent these things from happening to others. And one way to do it is to use the music as support for others who are having a rough time.
Dennis says: ”It’s important that we all respect each other. I really want to prevent hazing and bullying since it’s something that I’ve been through myself. If I, as an artist, can do something to help, of course I’ll do it. As an artist and role-model you have the ability to reach out to people easier and let them know where you stand.”Anything else?
Of course music is what Dennis wants to work with but he would also like to work with other things where he gets to be creative. Dennis says: ”I would really love to write a script for a movie or maybe even star in a movie myself. I want to be able to reach out to people in different ways. Maybe I’ll even write a book someday! As long as I’ll be able to create.”
Only time will tell what will happen in the future. Dennis is of course hoping to get his music spread around the world and not only in the gay community. And as Dennis would say: ”My life is a movie and I hope I can direct it the right way.”Contact
