Were a 3 piece punk rock band ......thats about itBand/artist history
During the summer of 1999 in the small town of Merritt BC five guys from two different jam groups merged together. Aged between 16-18 they had minimal music experience and no one had been in a real band before but the idea of one excited them all. Everyone grabbed their instruments, played what they could play and it all came together. After the first rehearsal Kook Show was the chosen name and the band was born. Fun was a key ingredient but the effort towards their songs and music was serious. Practising daily, they put together a few songs and a live show they would go on to play at parties. The long road to being a successful band had begun.
By 2001 Kook Show was down to three members but ready to record their first album. Influenced by rock, pop, punk and metal, an energetic, catchy sing-along album titled "Let The Show Begin" was created. They knew they had to get people to hear them so aside from their fulltime jobs they organized and promoted shows themselves all over BC in bars, halls or any other venue that would let them play. Their high energy live show, CD and radio airplay across Canada on college radio and a few major stations, earned them a healthy all ages fan base. Playing over 100 shows and selling 1400 copies
of the album, Kook Show played shows with headlining acts such as Lucky 7, Crazytown, Swollen Members, Project Wyze and Bad Religion. Requested to play events such as Slam city jam, Surf jam, getting songs on compilation CDs and having extreme sport videos use their songs, their resume continues to grow. They have developed a fresh sound concentrating on radio airplay and with six thousand downloads on www.mp3.com interest in the band is growing everyday.
Driven by fan support and each other Kook Show got back into the studio to record a six song EP titled "Chances". Released in May of 2003 the EP was quick to sell 350 copies and is gaining potential to surpass its counterpart "Let The Show Begin". A remake of the classic sing along "Sweet Home Alabama" has put them in the top ten of www.mp3.com's top 40 pop rock cover song charts and in the top 50 pop rock downloads. Local radio stations were quick to play the cover song which climbed into the city's top 10 countdown and they have expressed interest in other tracks as well. With more shows to come and more songs to record, Kook Show will continue to develop themselves and improve in specific areas in search of the ultimate pay off.Have you performed in front of an audience?we play all over b.c and alberta and soon moving across canada check out our tour dates at www.kookshow.com
