Derrell Antonio Dukes, born to Rosa and Ernest, is a native of Reidsville, Georgia, and currently resides in Greensboro, North Carolina. Surrounded by music since childhood, this singer/vocalist, contemporary bred songwriter, producer & composer, has a deep appreciation for harmonic foundations such as gospel, r&b, and jazz. "I did my first solo when I was four years old," Derrell remembers. Well-established as a drummer and music director, Derrell began to exercise his production talents in early 2000. Working diligently in the studio writing songs and recording demos, Derrell has completed an album worth of material. "I've been creating songs since I was eighteen, so I knew I needed the right musical blend in order to stand-out from the many other performers." Derrell formally introduced himself to the gospel nation in 2007 when he was appointed the opportunity to sing lead on the single Its All Good from the Freshman CD, Its All Good by National Recording Artist Todd Curry & Focus. Derrell was also appointed the opportunity to be the writer for the cut Sold Out on this same project; which was reviewed by Gospelcity. Gospelcity Review shared, "Sold Out is simply fun and fresh! Its for all the youthful praisers who want to express their commitment to their Lord. Derrell Dukes is not just a wonderful psalmist but an upcoming writer too. They flipped the script on us with the male vocals."- Cherisse Stephens Derrell had his first national television appearance on BET's Bobby Jones Gospel singing along with Todd Curry & Focus, in 2008. This young man has performed on concert billings with artist such as Chrisette Michele (opening act), Anthony Hamilton, Tonex, Donnie McClurkin, LeJeune Thompson, Donald Lawrence, Marvin Sapp, Pastor John P. Kee, Pastor William Murphy III, Pastor Hezekiah Walker, Jonathan Butler, The Canton Spirituals, and many others. Derrell has also had the honor of singing for Evangelist Diane-Barrino-Barber, mother of Fantasia (American Idol Winner), during her 2007 wedding ceremony. Derrell has taken the music industry by storm as he graces and challenges popular music with his writing and vocal talents. Much more than today's male singer, he is distinguished by youthful energy with in-depth lyrics that touch the soul. Derrell has held a number of concerts throughout the eastern region and anticipates expanding his audience base to cities such as Atlanta, Virginia and beyond. Derrell is honored and ecstatic to be the first solo artist signed to TLC Unlimited, Inc, which will produce some of the best artists in the world. Derrell is CEO and founder of music production company, Rell's Productions, and looks forward to working with many other artists in the future.
