Shadrach
This is me. Shadrach. Nothing more, nothing less. I rap. I don't sing (It'll hurt your ears), I don't dance (It'll hurt your eyes), and I'm really not here to tell you what to do, because I have no authority. I thank God that I have been blessed to realize the truth in life. Even being a Christian all my life Iíve just realized what it really means to serve God. Now that I know I'm not going to hold it back.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
It's just The Beginesis... but the laid back rhymes, truthful lyrics, and the name Shadrach will be heard all over the world. Music artist Nick Smith, also known as Shadrach, is building on a new area of the hip hop culture. He uses his profound rap lyrics to reach the youth of the world. At only 17 years old, this youngster is sure to turn heads.
Still in high school this kid has his first album out entitled, The Beginesis, which sample some of his first recorded songs. All his tracks are written by him and are straight from the heart. Many young people can relate to the truthful lyrics of life, righteousness, and living the right way. His style of rap is one not heard very often. You will never hear about the bling bling or the ghetto fabulous life because that's not Shadrach.
Still living with his loving parents and sister, Nick composes and write music at his house. He recently hooked up with Sanford Crawford, who helped him record and produce his first album. This is just the first of many to come being one of the youngest performers in gospel music.
He has been through a lot of struggles in his short lifetime. He suffers from scoliosis and nerve disorder. But that does not stop him from doing the things he wants to do. He strives at school with honor roll grades and loves to write music. He feels that he shouldn't even be, where he is now and that God has truly blessed him.
I feel that God gave me this talent of rapping, and Iím going to use it. I have so many testimonies to share with people and what i write is how I feel. "I want to be real", Shadrach says about his music. ì I don't do this for me. Iím not looking for a Grammy or to become famous. I'm just letting yaíll know how I feel. You can either accept it, or ignore it. The young teenager is still focused on finishing school, but always has music on his mind.
With a long future ahead of him and a good head on his shoulders, Shadrach is sure to be a success.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Ive only performed my gospel rap once at a church concert on the other side of town. I want to be a producer because I prefer the studio life rather than that of a recording artist or performer.
Your musical influences
I have a lot. Theres not enough room to fit all my influence. Id just have to say music itself is my influence.
What equipment do you use?
Right now im using ACID 4.0 to make beats and for recording. I have to admit its not the best but im working with what I have.
