'This French-born genius living nowadays in Hamburg is extremely interesting, for he composes exclusively with synthesizers and computers... for Blenner´s not in the least a sound-painter using riffs, but a composer'.
Serge Blenner was born in France in 1955.
Before he moved to Germany in 1975 he studied
late composition and harmony at the conservatory
of Mulhouse. At a very early stage of this
new genre he began to experiment with electronic
music and presented his work in a series of life
concerts in Munich and Hamburg in 1978. Together
with a cellist he created an acoustic show-piece
under the title "Music Live Electronic"
with "prepared tape" noises and electronic sounds.
Since 1980 he has been living in Hamburg and
works in his Studio Esthématique.
Serge Blenner - for almost twenty years this name
has beenn synonymous with sophisticated and
extravagant music. Through a remarkable
combination of orchestra, electronic textures
and poetry, this extraordinary composer, arranger
and producer has created a distinctive style.
Though familiar from a very early stage with the
full Western European musical tradition, his
roots are in the music and spirit of his native
France.Band/artist history
