Urban Disciples Finland (or just UDF) is a European Hip Hop -crew that currently consists of five emcees, Tulip, her brother Brother Boney (or Boney Bro), Mini, Tee and Doctor8 also known as "Kasi" and DJ ssA daM.Band/artist history
Urban Disciples Finland (UDF) was founded in May 1999. The idea behind it was to get guys with the same vision together making songs and arranging parties/shows. The first assembly was in December '99.
Back then, UDF was just a big posse consisting of smaller rap groups but nowadays we fused into one band and now UDF means five emcees plus a DJ and some homies.
We have been blessed from above with TWO hip hop radio shows that we have every week (check out www.xrossradio.com on Saturdays at 9PM in Finland, 8PM in Germany and, 10PM in Sweden as for other countries like the states you just have to figure out the time), lots of gigs and studio gear and of course -fans!Have you performed in front of an audience?We have shows all the time! Around Finland, but we have plans to have a little tour in Europe in the spring of 2004 and to POSSIBLY visit Los Angeles USA in the late summer of 2004. But we'll just have to see how things will work out!
Your musical influences
I guess you could say we are influenced by US westcoast underground hip hop -artists. We don't think we can be boxed into just one sub-category of rap-music. Our styles can vary a lot from one record to another. We let all kinds of music influence us but it's always some sort of hip hop music.
I guess you could say that God is also a musical influence to us. We all share our Faith in Jesus Christ, so that cannot help but influence some of the lyrics and also production. We don't come with preachy lyrics though, we like to tear down the predjudices that people have about Christians and Christian living.What equipment do you use?
Kilos of studiogear and top notch software! I use a PC and Fast Tracker 2 and do my recordings with a 4-track tape recorder Yamaha MT4X and a Shure 58 -mic, but we do have actual studio equipment that we use.Anything else?
