Honky-Tonk Rock, Outlaw Country and Electric Bluegrass. Their music comes from workin' hard and livin' harder; these boys sweat for a living and you can hear it. Beard writes mostly from first hand experience; farming, building and riding the rails.
Beard: writin', singin', guitar, dobro
Scot: Lead Guitar, mandolin, vocals
Greg: upright bass, truck drivin'
Band/artist history
Beard grew up in the country, working on his uncles farm, working for his Dad laying bricks and choppin' wood on the weekends. As his aunt Vicky always says, "you were ridin' horses before you could walk.". , not to mention the dirt and street bikes. He has worked on three different trains too...living on one of them!
Scot grew up listening to punk and bustin' up his skateboard in the back alley's of Ottawa before coming to Vancouver. A pro chef now, boy can he cook!
Greg grew up on the coast before settling in to an East Van home. Now he's a motorcycle maniac and heavy duty mechanic.
Four different guys, one different band.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes! We are a live band! That's why we play, recording is secondary. We play at The House Of Bourbon and keep an eye out for us at places like The Railway Club, The Main, The Media Club, The Pic, The Marine Club....
Your musical influences
Cash (of course), the William's boy's, All of the artists on the Bloodshot label, Drive By Truckers, Buck Owens, Tom T. Hall, Steve Earle, Townes van Zandt, Lucinda Williams, Calexico, Supersuckers, Neil Young, Allman Brothers, AC/DC, The Jayhawks, The Clash, SLF, Screeching Weasel ............!
What equipment do you use?
Beard uses a Martin SWDGT with a Tonebone Pre-Z and a MXR Distortion + and a '74 Dobro. Scot uses a Fender "Fat" Telecaster through a Dr. Z Galaxie and a Morgan Monroe mandolin. Greg plays a stand-up bass.
Anything else?
Leave your job and all yer' troubles behind, and come on down to Whisky Wonderland! Get up on the floor and dance, dance with someone, dance with a chair, we don't care. Scream and shout, let it all out, drink it down and have another round. This kind of therapy can't be beat.
