SAVIN iLL started in the Spring of 2003, and was organized by bassist Jonathan Lamoureux, emcee/DJ Man@Arms, and emcee Dynamic with the intention of blending jazz harmonies and funky rhythms with the rawness of hip hop. SAVIN iLL has achieved just that, creating it's own unique sound that is at once familiar yet distinct. The group evolved out of former Boston band Green Dimension. The three chose to end their time with Green Dimension after recording two CD's worth of music, and focus on putting a new band together.
They assembled a funk, soul, and jazz influenced group of musicians, including stellar vocalist Samantha Cecconi, jazz-in-his-blood guitarist Lance Vallis, and funky drummer Dave Beauchesne, to form SAVIN iLL. The bands name is a tribute to the neighborhood in Dorchester, Massachusetts (part of Boston) where they rehearse and some of the group live, Savin Hill. The band recently added keyboardist John Skolfield to the line-up, making the sound complete. With a focus on bringing a new flavor to organic hip hop through energized live shows, SAVIN iLL is a group to keep your eye on.Anything else?
