Nick Scally
Nick Scally (I) am a singer/songwriter pulling roots from all varieties of music. I grew up playing classical piano and jazz trumpet, and then dropped them both for the guitar, which has proved the most challenging and rewarding of them all.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Not much history to tell, it's just me and my music.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I haven't played live in a few years, when I did it was for other bands. I love playing live, it's quite a rush. The only special moment I can think of was when my band won a battle of the bands in high school. Although we only won because we brought more friends than anyone else!
Your musical influences
Nearly everything I've listened to has influenced me in some way. But I'll pick out a few big ones:
Led Zeppelin, Dave Matthews, Phish, Barenaked Ladies, Vertical Horizon, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Tool, Red Hot Chili Peppers... OK, I could go on and on...
What equipment do you use?
Ovation Celebrity Accoustic/Electric, Fender Squire Stratocaster, Guild DeArmond Starfire Custom semi-hollow, Marshall VS100 amp, and that's about all I've needed so far...
