JiSSM is an original All Girl Band based in Hampshire in the UK.
Formed in 2005 but having now taken an extended break until 2007, the band are presently writing new material. There are recording sessions booked over the next few months, so expect some more mp3's up here soon!Band/artist history
JiSSM was born when four lost musical souls came together over a few bottles of Schnapps, Baileys and Aftershock. Up until this time, Jenn had been playing with Shelley in a band called "Pure?" which has recently taken a long break. Melanie was also working with Shelley playing bass and writing songs for their other band "Pretty In Pink", a feminist punk band (which Mel has since left). The girls eventually formed JiSSM when they found Stef, who was taken into the fold to be the girls' drummer and general slave.
Stef has since left the band due to outside commitments.
David has been standing in on drums for recording sessions, however a new sticksgirl has been found, (details to follow soon!) and later this year we plan to get into the studio and record more songs!Have you performed in front of an audience?The girls plan to begin gigging at some point, although at the moment are simply writing and recording new material, (not to mention partying).
Your musical influences
Each of the girls has her own musical tastes, often very wide ranging. It would be unfair to make any comparisons between these and JiSSM's music, as the band have their own original sound. The genre? They like to call it Spunk Rock.What equipment do you use?
David (session drummer):Roland TD6/8 electronic drums in the studio, (Tama Granstar live). Shelley: Rickenbacker 325/ classic Antoria SG Junior through various Boss FX and a Fender RocPro100 stack. Jenn and Mel: Guild DeArmond Starfire bass(Jenn) and Epiphone EB-0 Bass(Mel) through a Peavey Bass Rig. Both also use old Roland and Yamaha keyboards. There's loads more but it would get too anal to list it all.Anything else?
