...and we will live again (rough) ...and we will live again (rough)
This song was recorded on an old piano and was never properly mastered. Apologies for the low volume. Tony Bullard has kindly offered to master the track for possible future release.
the stairwell memoirs is an atmospheric art-rock artist based in ottawa, ontario.
studio time is now available. songs will arrive sometime before we die.

apologies, once again. this will be the last apology from the stairwell memoirs. why? t.s.m has ended.
however, t.s.m will live on under a different name and a different style. stay tuned for updates. the new artist will be going into studio next tuesday.
once more, apologies for getting any hopes up. that was never my intent.
blessings of the season,

apologies for the lack in updates. once t.s.m becomes active again, you will be overfull with news.
all drum tracks will be recorded within the next three months. some of the guitar may be recorded as well. the plan is to have all guitar recorded by the end of december and all vocals recorded by the beginning of january.
the new logo is available. the album artwork has been created by Tony Bullard under the direction of Lucas Huang. it will be unveiled shortly. also, the title will not be 'imperfection is beautiful.' the official title will be unveiled with the album artwork.

unfortunately, recording has not progressed as much as desired. the current plan is to have all recording completed by the end of the year. then the material will be sent to Derek From (Sympathy) for mastering. distribution is still questionable. canadian distribution will likely be done independently. united states distribution will be done in the same way, unless t.s.m can be honoured by being distributed by , alongside Living Sacrifice, Beloved, Extol, and mewithoutYou. that would be a dream come true. perhaps something can be worked out with ; that, too, would be a dream come true.
but, as the cliché goes...
'we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.'
the album is tentatively entitled 'imperfection is beautiful.' the logo will be released soon. additionally, a new website is being worked out in preparation for the release.
many thanks for your patience.

recording has been difficult. not enough microphones are available to adequately record the drums, so they have a very hollow sound. additionally, the guitars need a lot of work. hopefully everything can be cleaned up in the mixing/mastering process.
one track (minus vocals) has been completed, although many of the guitar parts need revisiting. it is entirely conceivable that the entire song will be re-recorded at a later date.

recording equipment will be available as of tuesday.

are now available. actually, just one. more may be added soon, who knows.
it turns out that the benefit concert was postponed once again, until late in august, which means that t.s.m will not be able to make an appearance.
the new logo isn't happening, so you'll have to put up with the current one for some time.
the possibility of recording this summer is still in the air, but quite likely.
that's all for now.

june.01/04
hello all. not much has actually recently for the stairwell memoirs, but there are some updates with regards to the future. firstly, the swahili benefit concert has been delayed to june 25th. (and apparently swahili isn't actually a country. it's a language spoken by certain groups in africa. presumably, the proceeds from the benefit concert will go to a swahili village in africa. either that or we've all been greatly misinformed.) secondly, t.s.m will actually have access to some recording equipment during the summer, so recording may occur earlier than expected...
a new logo may arrive at some point. who knows.
peace and blessings,

apologies for the late update. the coffeehouse performance was great - a decent turnout. many thanks to MAP, mike lynn, chris toller, danish hussein, and the rest of the behind-the-scenes crew. next time we'll publicize better.
another performance has tentatively been booked for the 12th of june. it will be a benefit concert for children in swahili. and friends will be performing a few originals, but mainly indie-rock covers.
keep checking back for updates.

and friends have officially passed last week's audition, and will be performing at tomorrow's coffeehouse. the concert will begin at 7:30 and run until 11:30. half of one of those hours will belong to t.s.m and friends. entrance is seven dollars, canadian currency.

two performances coming up. the first is tuesday (may 11), at a chamber music recital held by ashbury college in the theatre. 7:30 to 9:00, free entrance. no original songs. several young performers of all levels. the second one is friday (may 14), again at the ashbury college theatre. 7 o'clock onwards, entrance fee has not been decided but will probably be around 10 dollars. t.s.m (with guests) will potentially have a 45-minute set. auditions are tomorrow; stay tuned for updates.
in other news, the interlude has been remastered and edited for official release in the end-of-year edition of the ashbury publication . it has been cut to a corporate 3 minutes, which means that this site is your exclusive source for the original version. feel special.

lionel tanod, the head of music at ashbury college, is retiring at the end of the year. t.s.m will be recording a tribute album to him, featuring two original compositions. they be recorded (this is a promise that will be kept), and one will likely end up on this site.
as for t.s.m, it is unlikely that the CD will be launched before the end of the year. apologies to those who had their hopes high. not enough recording time is available and not enough material has been written. again, sorry for the extra wait.
sincerely,

a new logo is up. it was hand-drawn and edited only to invert the colours, so please excuse the poor quality.
a new song may be recorded next week. perhaps. we shall see.

well, largely due to the gold listing at godcore.com, there has been a steady stream of several visitors and a few downloads per day. your continued support is greatly appreciated.
on another note, a new has popped up with a passing reference to t.s.m. you may find its contents provoking, humorous, or a wide range of other emotional and/or intellectual evocations. and there are capital letters, in case you were sick of this site.

it came and it went. climbed the acoustic piano subcharts to 8th spot and has now fallen to around 40th. it was fun while it lasted. thanks to everyone who played the song; hopefully you enjoyed it.
in other news, t.s.m now has official gold listing at . yay! maybe there'll be more visitors now...we shall see...

the response to has exceeded expectations. thanks to all who have listened to the song and given feedback. if you have not yet given feedback and wish to, feel free to post a message on the message boards to your right.
has offered to master the track. it will still not be a very good recording, since it was recorded on a very old piano, but at least the volumes can be boosted slightly.
on the same topic, some may be wondering why the song is always referred to as an intermission. there are two reasons for this. firstly, it's a very rough track. it will be rerecorded sometime in the future (as opposed to the past) with a better piano, when more time is available. secondly, it is not representative of the overall style of the rest of t.s.m's material. t.s.m does not wish to lead anyone into thinking that all future songs will be piano instrumentals.

happy post-leap-year-day. happy tetra-annual birthday if you're one of the lucky people to have your birthday on february 29th. i guess it would be pretty cool, but the novelty would wear off after the first few years. plus it would suck to only get birthday presents every four years. but i guess most people would celebrate on the february 28th or march 1st of each non-leap-year. still, it would be kind of funny to tell people that you're celebrating your seventh birthday and you're 28 years old. (like one of the youth leaders at my church. 'little zacky.' heh.)
in other news, is band of the month at . they (we
