Alternative Hip Hop

Sean P.G. is a San Diego based hip-hop artist. He has been an active part of the culture since break-dancing in the 80's and Herbie Hancock made you Rock It. Through many travels and twists of fate he has always been a part of the music scene in one way or another. Now it is his time to shine and show his skills on his solo debut " UNDER-RATED ".
Band/artist history
I met up with my producer Devron a couple of years back here in San Diego, and we've been rollin' on non-stop since then.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I have done more than a few live shows here in San Diego, usually making guest appearances with friends bands. Soon however I will be doing live shows with a crew I helped form in 2002. I'm looking forward to playing out again, there's nothing quite like it and it's a great way to get feedback-as well as just generally be inspired. I remember my first M.C. battle here in San Diego, none of my friends would give me a ride so I had to take a cab. When I pulled up in front of the club a couple of the locals sort of laughed and applauded . One of them ran right up to me saying that his money was on me, because if I believed in myself enough to come alone in a cab then I must be dope. I thanked him went inside and was told by the promoter I would be the first to go on that night out of something like 15 or 20 people. Well I made it to the third round before getting beat out by rappers telling me I was a fake Eminem and wore gear that wasn't up to spec. Since then I haven't changed my wardrobe and still remember my one friend who showed up to support me, her name is Heather.I always think back on that night and laugh about how honest she was with me about my performance, stage presence etc. and how far I've come since then.
Your musical influences
I've always loved many kinds of music thanks to my Mom and friends that I've had coming up in the world. Some of those friends were in bands and some of them weren't. I am a great supporter and fan of most hip-hop specifically Del,Souls of Mischief,Hieroglyphics,The Pharcyde as well as the foundation who built this whole thing like Run DMC,The Beastie Boys,Public Enemy,Rakim -there's just to many to mention. Anymore the less it is accepted by radio and T.V. the more I dig it. I also have been the biggest Red Hot Chili Peppers fan since their first self titled album in the mid-eighties,as well as being into Jane's Addiction,The Smashing Pumpkins, and now Incubus,Hed P.E.,Linkin Park and the like. I could go on but let's just say that I am a Chicago native who eventually owned and operated his own art business in New Orleans moved from there to the Bay Area and finally landed in San Diego. To say I have an eclectic mix of interests and styles would be a vast understatement.
