Rock n Roll

In the year 2001, on the stands of their favorite football club, RBC Roosendaal, three guys with totally different musical backgrounds, decided to team up and form a band. They called their band the Southern Way, because of the fact that they were all born and raised in the southern part of the Netherlands, called Noord-Brabant. But it wasnt until January 2002 that the lads found their sound and started writing more songs more seriously. The original concept was to start a street punk band, but their style rapidly changed into hard-hitting rock & roll with psychobilly, street punk and even some metal influences. In February 2002 the band decided to record their first demo-tape called Football is Fun. The tape contained two songs, Football is Fun and Southern Way and were recorded by their good friend and beer-buddy Timo. The tape was never for sale and was used for promotional use only. They played their first gig on the 19th of May 2002 at the Baroeg, Rotterdam. The guys received a lot of positive reactions and kept hearing positive reactions at all the following gigs! One of those positive reactions came from Rebellion Records Holland, who signed Southern Way in February 2003. The band recorded six songs for an EP at Edi-sound, Tilburg. The EP was cancelled and instead 7more songs were recorded for their first full-length album released on Rebellion Records in April 2003. The album contains heavy rock & roll songs with lyrics influenced by Football, girls, Cult and Horror movies. The band played all over Holland in 2003. Southern Way shared the stage with Frenzy, The Exploited, GBH, Madball, The Real Mckenzies, Milwaukee Wildmen, Dicemen, Cenobites, just to name a few. 2004 will hopefully bring more foreign gigs. A gig in Prague is already confirmed. The band is writing new songs as we speak and still playing all over Holland Southern Way will maybe even come to to rock your home ground in the recent future
