Prepare for an onslaught of brutal emotion, undeniable truths, and focused realism as we expose the people of this ignorant, self absorbed society for the type of scoundrel that they all are...
Band/artist history
Formed in January 2002, Bite the Hand, a quartet hailing from Chicago Illinois, quickly became a force to be reckoned with in the underground music scene. This groove oriented metal band, which consists of vocalist Jon Goldyn, guitarist Ben McGillivray, bassist Steve Garcia and drummer Greg Yates, earns their respect from many fans by making their music and live show as personal and professional as they possibly can. Musically, Bite the Hand creates an original metal sound with unpredictable bass and drum time changes, mixed together with progressive guitar harmonies and solos. This foundation is layered with intelligent, yet sometimes controversial lyrics that pertain to life and the world that surrounds us. "I pride myself on how brutally honest my lyrics are" says vocalist Jon Goldyn, "I don't need to lace my lyrics with curse words to get my point across, I'm here to let people know how it is, not offend them with vulgarities." If that wasn't truthful enough, Bite the Hand's live show is just as focused as their writing goes, 100% professional on stage and off. "This is what I plan on doing for the rest of my life" drummer Greg Yates replies when asked about his goals with the band, "Being able to perform the music we write, to me is more important than writing itself. Everyone in the band is a perfectionist, and we hit the stage knowing that at all times" Bite the Hands focused on gaining more national exposure, along with creditable radio airplay. In 2002, the band had the honor of opening for such national acts as Dope, The Heavils and From Zero, as well as numerous television appearances and performances. This along with their official website, www.BiteTheHand.com, the band gains fans from all over the U.S. as well as Canada and Europe. Currently, the band just released a brand new 7 track EP entitled Land of the Fee which was produced by Tim Rusin from R.M.S. Recording. With a new CD come new shows, as the band plans on playing as many live shows as they can to promote. "We look forward to what the future holds for us" says bassist Steve Garcia, "I'd love for this band to go as far as it can, and have as much fun as possible doing it."
