Rock General

3 Times A Day is from Chattanooga, TN. We are a true rock band that has the edge everyone wants and the talent everyone deserves. Our shows will make you laugh, cry, and keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.
Band/artist history
Derrick and Andy have been playing together since the age of 13. We formed various groups and played many open mics and parties but the music never really took off like we wanted it to. We had a lot of original stuff but it was lacking without the drums to help set the beat. So we put out an add for a drummer. We had an answer fairly quickly from a guy named Jonathen. We spent way, way, way to much time trying to come up with a band name and settled finally on The Hot Brake Club. (Don't ask) But after we played our first party Jonathen dissapeared and we still haven't heard from him. So we went back to the drawing board and put up another add with no results. Then one day Derrick was at the mall talking to a friend and up comes Patrick to buy a cell phone. Derrick looked over and saw him tapping on his legs and tapping his foot. Here's the conversation: Derrick: "So are you a drummer?" Patrick: "Yeah." Derrick: "Wanna try out to be in a band?" Patrick: "Sure." And the rest is history. After Patrick joined we changed our name to 3 Times A Day and started basically from scratch writing all new songs. We kept maybe one or two from The Hot Brake crap. We played out first open mic as 3 Times A Day about 3 months later and we played our first headliner 4 months after that. Since that time we have played many many more shows here in Chattanooga and even travelled out of town to play. Currently we are still writing, playing, and working on our album, which we hope to get out soon. Thus ends the tale of 3 Times A Day.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I'd say our favorite place to play live is Rythm & Brews here in Chattanooga. They have the best stage and good crowds and we seem to fit in pretty nice with the general acts. Our first headliner was there.
Your musical influences
I think the broad range of influences is the reason our music is so different but still catchy and fun. They range from Red Hot Chili Peppers to Rush, The Allman Brothers Band and all the way to Primus.
What equipment do you use?
Patrick plays on a Pearl Drum kit with the cheapest crap sticks he can find. Paiste and Rain cymbals and Remo heads. Derrick plays a Fender Tele and a Squire Strat on a Crate and 4 twelve cab. Andy Plays Ibanez Ergodyne 5 string and Dean Fretless 4 string bass on a Randall 4x10 cab with a Peavey 450 Head.
Anything else?
Yeah, we want to thank Meghan Stancil for helping us out and shooting our pictures. We hope to have many more chances to act like idiots while she takes our picture. And also thanks to Derrick, and Dan at Shadowland Records for taking under there watchful eye and well recording us.
