deZeption is a danish futurepop/synthpop/electropop band formed in May 2003 by Jan Brink Jensen (synths, vocals) and Claus Lindeskov Hansen (lead vocals, synths).
The band originally started as a hobby project as the band members were searching for somewhere to put their musical ideas and visions. The two soon discovered the music creation finding a natural workflow very fast. It was clear that both had different strongpoints that easily complimented eachother. Put together this has shown itself as a very powerful mixture - Jan being loaded with forms and ideas and Claus working as the sound designer.
The music could best be described as a hybrid between futurepop, synthpop, electronica and techno mildly blended with elements from ambient and chillout - all intelligently mixed with deep and heartfelt, melancholic and often very ambiguous lyrics using words with a certain amount of undertones to emphasize deZeptions view of life in a very dualistic manner.
It’s hard to talk about inspiration in a conventional way, as the band members listen to all sorts of musical genres ranging from futurepop, synthpop, techno, electropop, trance, dance, chillout, ambient and new age to heavier stuff like ebm, electro and some melodic pop and hard rock. The band as such has no intention in copying what has already been made, but try to form their own way of expression.
'Futurepop with an Edge' as deZeption like to call it...
Noone really knows where this is leading. But prior to the release of their first demo in October 04 both band members were hoping that this would turn out to be more than just a hobby. Now, after the release they are both ensured that this is just more than fun - this is their destiny!Band/artist history
