Nietzsche and the Band of Love

If Sonic Youth, Pavement, The Beatles, Charles Mingus, Monk and Dylan all got into a room and evaporated into mist, we'd be somewhere in that mist.

Nietzsche is about community. The songs you here on record are meant to be re-interpreted live by whoever is playing. In a way, the songs are the skeleton and the musicians are the flesh. Because of that, it's only right that I link ya'll to the other projects of Nietzsche members:
Band/artist history
Hmm...where does Nietzsche begin? Well, Ev and Kev used to jam a bit and made a couple of discs worth of instrumental material. Chris joined the band in 2002 (?) and we had an idea for an experimental noise band like a less depressing, more loose Sonic Youth. I asked my friend Peter to play percussion, but he never really showed up or anything, so I guess he's not in the band. But anyway, Chris and Ev have another band, Green, which they put a lot of work in to, so Kevin was left to work on the songs mostly alone. What developed was all over the map. Since Chris and Ev went off to college and Kev was left stagnating with his collection of music, more people...pretty much anyone that Kev knew, was recruited to play. Ralph, Charly, The Pan, Katie and Cody (of The Sea Cliffs) are all in. In theory, they'll contribute something. ...and they have! Songs like Norton the Magnificent would be nothing but a twinkle in Kevin's eye if it weren't for Ralph and The Pan.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We've played amongst a few battling bands, and Kevin's played solo a bunch, all to warm responce. One time, when Kevin was playing Peter Pachyderm solo, the rest of the bandmates brought out Official Nietzsche balloons and handed them out to the audiance.
Your musical influences
Again, all over the map. The Pixies, Pavement, Radiohead, Sonic Youth, Le Beatles, Stephen Malkmus, and now, more of Mingus, Bird, Monk, and Miles.
What equipment do you use?
Too much equiptment.
Anything else?
"Kevin is the Humphrey Bogart of indie rock...he looks badass, but he's wearing a bowtie" --Cody Clarke "Anyone who doesn't like Kevin's music is wrong" --Jake Tiner "When i listen to Kevin Dugan sing, my face lights up and I smile for the whole song" --Marlyn Frage
