The BCP smash the proverbial square peg in the round hole with their own brand of Country/Punk-Industrial Blues Rock sound. BCP is a three piece outfit that started in 1996 and haven't stopped to look back. With every show a new turn and with every recording a new twist never affording themselves the sameness in sound or style as so many other bands have grown accustomed. The line-up has not changed: Chris Humel on guitar and lead vocals, Dan Bess on drums, and Jeremy Pike on bass and backing vocals.
Since the demo release of Basement Cheeze in 1996 the BCP have continued to put out recordings like 1997's White Trash Christmas and 1998's record C-Notes & G-Strings in which the title track and White Trash's "Baltic Avenue" later appeared on the R.U.T. Records compilation CD entitled From the Underground Volume 1. In 1999 the band headed back in to the studio and emerged with yet another 6-song EP "000", that would bring the band up a notch and provide and outlet for more shows with the on-going undercurrent of new Punk Rock music. In the fall of 1999 recordings were being compiled for the new release "LIGHTNING STRIKES: From the Underground Volume 2", so the Cheeze went back in to record a few tracks for that album. Those songs never made it but what came out was 14 hours of craziness captured on tape later released (with some hesitation) as Stereophobic lo-fi sexual black market white noise.
Stereophobic... was the first R.U.T. Records release of 2000 and was well recieved by fans but reviewers were left quite confused. Nonetheless the band hit the road and played 50+ shows in support of the album.
Currently the band has just released their first full length album entitled Dobermans & Bowling Balls recorded once again with help from good friend and engineer Fred Betschen (Snapcase). Dobermans hit streets on May 8th and is available on-line, mail order or at your local record store. BCP will also have an unreleased song appear on yet another R.U.T. Records compilation entitled United Punks featuring 24 punk bands from all over the world...Have you performed in front of an audience?You are not a band if you don't play live, there are so many great things bout it, hanging w/ the fans, everything bout it. We always have fun and so does the people there.
Your musical influences
We are influenced by everything. The world around us is inspiration. Musically I don't think we have any limits. Jeremy likes everything from Lords of Acid to Bad Religion to Sarah McLaughlin. I listen to Classical, Metal, Country, Motown, etc. I think the same goes for Chris - Iggy Pop, Ramones, Blues, Metal -you name it, apretty wide scope. I think that helps giving us our sound.What equipment do you use?
Drums, bass and a guitar, nothing else is needed!!Anything else?
We are so outta pennies to roll, go buy the album if ya like Elvis Costello, Social Distortion, Ramones.....
