Welcome! My name is Ahmmi Harkness. I am a Conscious Female Hip-Hop Artist seeking to promote myself to my peers.
Band/artist history
Ahmmi Harkness was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. At the age of 14 she began writing poetry which soon would transform to rhymes by the time she reached high school in 1993. Ahmmi had developed her nack in the rap game and felt the need to go out and see exactly what she could make happen. " I felt like I could make anything happen if I just tried" In 1994, Ahmmi Harkness hooked up with a high school friend and formed the rap duo "Nadanuf". "Nadanuf" would continue to perform throughout Cincinnati, Ohio making a name for themselves and breaking boundaries at the same time. " Nadanuf" was the first rap group, (let alone female rap group) to win Cincinnati's Best of The Best Talent Show. This win set the mark for Nadanuf, and by the time Ahmmi finished high school, she was headed you Los Angeles, California to seek at recording contract. In 1998 when Ahmmi Harkness reached Los Angeles, California with her other half Deena Philpot they were at the beginning of a struggle. Many days and nights would go by before they signed with Warner Bros. Records in Burbank, CA. Upon signing their deal Nadanuf went to work right away to promote their album "Worldwide". Their first single "The Breaks" featuring rap pioneer Kurtis Blow entered Billboard Charts at #14. Ahmmi would go on to tour the United States and Europe to promote her first album. She opened for acts such as Destiny's Child, Usher Raymond, Aaron Carter and Master P.
