A few days before Christmas of '86, Professor Hubert (Hugh) Mongous and Doctor "Red" Sausage, at the time the two-member pop combo Pink Torpedos, got together at the Wilbert Studio to perform an impromptu musical session. This session infamously became known as the XXX-mas recordings. The tape was soon distributed far and wide among the who and who and so and so across the US and to various parts of the world, titled Mary XXX-mas. Mary XXX-mas quickly was a cult fave and is now a classic, playing on decks everywhere every holiday season, to the merriment of young and old alike.

Hi Jenae. The Professor, who does vocs on the tracks, and I wrote this in one sitting, one take, made it up on the spot, in an inspired session a few days before Xmas of 1986. Just turned the tape machine on and took off for the 30 or 40 minutes of the eight songs on Mary XXX-mas. I'm on guitar. Prof and I grew up together, but hadn't seen one another for at least seven years before getting together in Austin in the summer of '86. He'd been doing music in San Antonio and then NYC, a couple of bands, and I'd been in a couple of Austin bands, prior to our joinup. At our first reconvening, we began writing and recording songs. With an added player and guests over a five year period, we, as the Pink Torpedos, probably wrote a thousand songs.
