Christopher Tolbert has enjoyed a career as a professional guitarist that has spanned 20 years. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in music with an emphasis in jazz from Bellarmine College where he studied with Jeff Sherman. In 1991, he won the Louis Armstrong Award as Bellarmine’s instrumentalist of the year. In addition, he has attended and performed in master classes with Jim Hall, Jimmy Raney, Howard Roberts, Howard Alden, Jack Wilkins, Attila Zoeler, Christopher Parkening, and many others.
As a member of the Juggernaut Jug Band, Chris has toured and performed internationally under the pseudonym "Big Daddy T." Chris' areas of musical interest vary widely. Although his education is primarily in jazz, he has a great love of classical and liturgical music. Chris was the director of music ministry at St. Patrick Church for nine years, and he still serves as first-call guitarist for the Cathedral of the Assumption and the Archdiocese of Louisville.
