Square Wave Rules is a solo endeavor designed to bring experimental electronic music to its knees. It doesn't ALWAYS use a square wave, of course. Instead, the music relies on the guiding principle that the basic building blocks of modern electronic music are the simple square wave, sawtooth wave, triangle wave, and sine wave. By combining these elements, one can create new, unique, and purely synthetic sounds. The name simply comes from the idea that a square wave is the most aesthetically pleasing of the varying waves.
All Square Wave Rules music is created on a computer using Buzz Machines. It is designed to uniquely redefine natural sounds in terms of synthetic components - samples of natural sounds are used sparingly at most.Band/artist history
I've been experimenting with music for a few years, but only recently have I found a style and a form that is not only pleasing to the human ear, but also doesn't require me to actually have an instrument, or know how to play it.Have you performed in front of an audience?Live music is a lofty goal, but must wait until I have accumulated enough compositions, and better equipment.
Your musical influences
Square Wave Rules is inspired by such electronic giants as Kraftwerk, Neu!, Brian Eno and others, while mixing in the weirdness of Devo and The Residents for an experimental angle. What equipment do you use?
Everything is composed using Jeskola Buzz Machines, but earlier works were composed with FruityLoops.
