I've been playing guitar for about 12 years, grew up in a musical extended family where singing together at parties was always encouraged...seemed that every time we got together someone had a guitar or accordion and we knew it would be a great night.Have you performed in front of an audience?Hopefully if I can muster up the cash I can get an amp and pickup to plug my guitar into, because playing in front of people is such a rush that I want to start doing it again. I got to play for a crowd of about 100 or so people while attending Roanoke College and I had a blast doing it.
Your musical influences
Really my biggest musical influences are family members. Everyone from Uncle Eddie on his 12 string to Uncle Bob on the accordion, my late grandfather's knack for harmonization and my dad's comfort in playing songs for people. Those guys have the real talent. I'm just trying to carry on a family tradition... Dave Matthews's unique style also influences how I play, which you can hear in some of the diminished chords, palm muting and slides I try to incorporate in my riffs.What equipment do you use?
Grew up playing my dad's Yamaha dreadnought, and haven't strayed too far from the brand. I used to play an Ovation acoustic/electric, but ended up selling it when money got tight. It was a sad day...Anything else?
